Microsoft says it’s urgently looking to help independent retailers who have been left in the dark over their Xbox One stock allocation.
A number of High Street and online outlets have told MCV that the lack of information over their Xbox One stock has severely damaged their ability to sell the console.
GameDojo claims it was misled over the number of consoles it could offer at launch, while online outlet GameSeek has removed the machine from sale.
Our customers deserve to know when the product they are paying for is to arrive,” said Gameseek MD Stephen Staley.
Meanwhile, High Street store Retrobution said it had no option but to convert a number of Xbox One pre-orders to PS4 to placate customers.
In a statement issued to MCV, Microsoft has promised to investigate these concerns with distributor Exertis Gem.
We are looking into the issue with Gem to urgently address retailer concerns,” said an Xbox spokesperson. Demand for Xbox One is unprecedented and while it’s sold out at major retailers we are doing everything to ensure that our fans have one this Christmas.”
