Yet more rumours point to more powerful PS4

Another report claiming that Sony has a new, more powerful version of the PS4 in the works has emerged online.

The Wall Street Journal claims that Sony is indeed planning a more powerful version of its console that is designed to handle higher-end game experiences” and VR.

This follows identical claims from first Kotaku and then Eurogamer.

WSJ reports that while PS4 games will work on both the enhanced and existing models, titles will offer improved visuals and performance on the new machine – although their software catalogues will be shared. Key too is the improved PlayStation VR performance.

It adds that an announcement is planned prior to the launch of the VR headset in October – which could well mean an E3 reveal.

Sony’s biggest challenge now will be figuring out how to appease any existing owners who may feel aggrieved that their hardware will run future titles at a lower spec than those who bought the console later.
