Captain America marketing starts today, 2 weeks after release

SEGA released Captain America: Super Soldier in Australia and New Zealand two weeks ago, but its marketing campaign kicks off today alongside the film.

The heavy TV campaign started airing today, with 15 and 30 second spots on cable channels including Showtime Action, Movie One, Fox 8, MTV and others.

Neroli Baird, marketing manager for SEGA Australia, told MCV: "We wanted the marketing to coincide with the film’s release, when hype surrounding Captain America is at its peak and generating interest from consumers."

Some print advertisments have already been circulating, however the primary push for both the online and print portions of the campaign is also timed around one huge launch today.

SEGA is hoping the film’s success so far (ousting Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 in its second week in the US) will carry over to the game.

Captain America: Super Soldier was released on July 14th in Australia and New Zealand for 360, PS3, Wii and DS.
