EB Games Australia denies Wii U Basic recall

The future of the Basic model of Wii U was further questioned when reports suggested Australian retailer EB Games would be recalling the SKU.

Sources told Vooks that the specialist was pulling the console from shelves, but the site has since received a statement denying that this is the case.

It reads: "Recently it has been reported that EB Games is doing a recall on the Wii U White 8GB Pack. This information is incorrect.

"We are currently conducting a stock rebalance, which is standard procedure with all of our products and involves sending a portion of our stock back to our Head Office to get redistributed.

"All stores still have inventory of this product, and will continue to stock it as per normal for the foreseeable future."

The news follows the confusion from last month where GameStop seemed to be recalling the Basic console as well, prompting speculation that Nintendo might retire its entry-level product to focus on the Premium 32GB edition.

Vooks reports that the Basic model hasn’t sold too well in Australia, matching similar claims from other markets.
