Indian developer grabs casual game portal in $3 million deal

FXLabs acquires knibble.com

FXLabs, one of India’s largest game developers, has bought Interactive Media Technology and its knibble.com casual game portal.

Boasting 10,000 games, knibble is claimed to be the largest casual portal on the internet. Users are also able to upload games and add descriptions and tags, acting as a showcase platform for independent flash game developers.

The move is intended to complement FXLabs own recent establishment of facilities for developing casual games. Currently headquartered in Hyderabad, the acquisition will help FXLabs to open another development studio in Chennai and a business development office in San Francisco.

“With the acquisition of Knibble we have expanded our capability from being a game developer to a company that will be directly delivering world class game play experience to consumers globally. We are extremely optimistic about emerging markets like India driving worldwide online game revenues and we believe that this is a terrific move for both FXLabs and Knibble,” Sashi Reddi, founder and chairman of FXLabs.

Sashi Chimala, Founder and CEO of IMT, added: “In addition to the international gaming community, Knibble’s association with the FXLabs brand will help us reach a much wider audience in India. With a portfolio of 10,000 plus games over multiple platforms, we are an attractive game destination for game enthusiasts world-wide.”
