GAME Digital appoints Mark Gifford as CFO

The former chief financial officer of department chain Fraser is to take on the role of CFO at GAME Digital.

Mark Gifford joined Fraser as director of finance in 2002, before moving to become CFO in 2007.

Previously, he held senior finance positions at travel firm First Choice.

He will join GAME’s board as a director and CFO this October, reporting directly to CEO Martyn Gibbs.

Gifford succeeds Benedict Smith, who announced back in March that he would be stepping down from his role at GAME to take on the responsibility of CFO at a private equity-backed business.

Smith will remain with GAME until the end of July, coinciding with the end of the retailer’s financial year.

Mark brings a wealth of experience driving successful strategic, operational and financial delivery in retail and consumer facing businesses and will be a great asset to GAME,” said Gibbs. He is a high-calibre individual who will build on what we have already achieved as we continue in our mission to build the most valuable community of gamers.”

Gifford added: I’m delighted to be joining GAME at this exciting time and look forward to working with Martyn and the team and contributing to the future success of the business. The group is financially strong and has a dynamic business with significant growth opportunities in a number of markets – both core and new.”
