Koei Tecmo looks to licensed titles as six-month results fall flat

Koei Tecmo has reported six-month financial results showing dips in both revenue and profit, though the company believes the strong performances of its collaboration titles” will lead to better-than-expected full year results.

The firm brought in $20.45m in profit for the first six months of its fiscal year (ending March 31st, 2016), a 25 per cent decline compared to the same period a year ago.

That said, full fiscal year results are projected to be better-than-expected at $82.78m due to strong sales from licensed efforts like Hyrule Warriors and Dragon Quest Heroes.

Gamasutrafurther reports that Koei Tecmo has recently opened a completely new division dedicated to collaborative efforts with third-party properties, with teams working on games based on Dissidia Final Fantasy, Attack on Titan, and a very big Western IP.”
