MySims heads to 360 and PS3

The latest instalment of EA’s MySims franchise – SkyHeroes – has been scheduled for release this autumn and is heading to Xbox 360 and PS3 for the first time, as well as the Wii and DS.

The MySims series has sold strongly on the casual-focused Wii and DS formats and its arrival on Microsoft and Sony’s platforms should be seen as vote of confidence in the growing casual credentials of both machines.

The Q4 arrival of Natal and Move will, the pair will hope, open them up to the lucrative mass-market so successfully pillaged by Nintendo.

SkyHeroes boasts a range of new features based on midair combat and includes split-screen and head-to-head multiplayer online.

MySims games have truly become favourites among kids, families and gamers alike, so we’ve challenged ourselves to deliver a new style of adventure for fans,” said The Sims Studio’s general manager Scott Evans.

We are thrilled to have many firsts with MySims SkyHeroes, like introducing epic boss battles, co-operative gameplay missions and online multiplayer.”

MySims was originally released in 2007 on Wii, DS and PC, and along with follow-ups including MySims Racing and Party, has gone on to sell 8m copies worldwide. The series adopted a cartoony style over the original PC franchise to appeal to younger players.

Sims 3 was also confirmed for consoles last week. It will join MySims SkyHeroes at retail this autumn for worldwide release on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and DS.
