NBC 5 issues fake iPad warning after woman buys a mirror

Be warned, dear readers – a cunning scam is currently thriving in the US that tricks punters into buying a fake iPad.

It is speculated that the rouse is being perpetrated by the same gang of hooligans that have been spotted in Weston-super-Mare selling pencils to pensioners, tricking them into thinking they are 2.0 litre TDCi Ford Mondeos.

People who have iPads love them. A lot of people who don’t have them want them. So when a guy showed up at this gas station offering to sell one at a bargain price it sounded almost too good to be true… And it was,” NBC 5’s Scott Gordon warned following the incident just outside Dallas.

Indeed, the fellow in question was offering $800 iPads for just $200. With Christmas coming up, she thought it sounded too good to pass up,” Gordon added of the unsuspecting Galante Freeman

Thing is, when Galante opened the box all she found was a mirror. Though it did at least have a picture of an iPad stuck to the front of it.

That’s messed up. That’s so wrong,” she added. Can’t argue with that. Unbelievably this is the second time this has happened.
