'They give you the time to make the games good,' says producer

Next Level Games developing exclusively for Nintendo

Luig’s Mansion: Dark Moon developer Next Level Games is now making titles exclusively for Nintendo.

Speaking to Gamasutra, Luigi’s Mansion producer Ken Yeeloy said he felt the developer was a good fit with Nintendo, as they liked to create similar titles that were gameplay-centric.

"There are a lot of benefits to working with a first party. Nintendo’s great. They give you the time to make the games good," he said.

"They’ve done really well — the Wii’s done really well, the DS has done really well, the Wii U is not the strongest start but we trust that they’ll come up with something to get it going, and the 3DS was a blast to work on."

The Vancouver studio has long developed titles for Nintendo systems since it was founded in 2002, working on the likes of Punch-Out!, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon and Transformers: Cybertron Adventures for the Wii.

Prior to Luigi’s Mansion for the 3DS, Next Level Games has also previously worked with Nintendo IP through football games Super Mario Strikers and Mario Strikers Charged.
