Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty facing Wii U ‘dev’ challenge

Oddworld Inhabitants has admitted that it is having trouble with the planned Wii U version of Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty.

GameSpot reports that creator Lorne Lanning wants to ensure that the Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee remake must run on all versions of Nintendo’s hardware before he is prepared to release it.

"If you’re going to make a game for the Wii U it better run on the 8GB unit, otherwise it’s not really a Wii U game,” he told the Fragments of Silicon podcast. I’m desperate to get on Nintendo, I believe it will resonate with that audience."

The game’s Twitter channel later back-tracked on this, however, although it did insist that the Wii U release has not been scrapped.

New ‘n’ Tasty is not cancelled on Wii U,” it insisted. We are currently having challenges with the platform that we are striving to overcome. Regarding Wii U, while supporting the 8GB model is a consideration, it is neither a deal breaker nor the only challenge.

Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is already available on PS4 with Xbox One, PC, PS3 and Vita versions all due to follow.
