Wii Remote Plus confirmed

Nintendo has confirmed the existence of the Wii remote Plus – a new version of the standard Wii controller that integrates that Motion Plus enhancement.

Kotaku first spotted the peripheral as part of a bundle including upcoming first party Wii release FlingSmash, which is set to hit North American retail later this year at a cost of $49.99.

It had originally been scheduled for release this summer, only to be pushed back to November – Kotaku speculates that the inclusion of the new controller is the reason for the delay.

Bundling the family-friendly title with the Wii Remote Plus is probably good news for FlingSmash, too. The bundling of Wii Play with the current WiiMote has seen the title become the best selling game ever in the US.

The game doesn’t currently have a European release date.
