Independent studio working on free-to-play fighting title for iOS and Android

Ninja Theory jumps into mobile game development

Cambridge-based UK developer Ninja Theory is developing its first ever mobile game, Fightback.

The fighting title, to be published by Chillingo, will be free-to-play and based on an “80s action movie vibe”, using touch-based combat controls.

Ninja Theory product manager Dominic Matthews said mobile and tablet had become platforms the studio could no longer afford to ignore.

Fightback will be released on iOS and Android this summer.

“Mobile and tablet gaming is a phenomenon that we just couldn’t ignore as a studio and we’re very proud to be working with one of the industry’s heavy-weights on bringing Fightback to market,” said Matthews.

“Ninja Theory has always strived for the highest production values and that absolutely remains the case in this exciting new space.”

Chillingo COO Ed Rumley added: “Chillingo is very excited to collaborate with such a talented, critically-acclaimed studio to help shape their first title for the mobile market. Our team is working closely with Ninja Theory to ensure Fightback delivers a phenomenal experience for mobile and tablet devices.”

Ninja Theory is an independent developer that has previously worked on console games such as Heavenly Sword, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and Devil May Cry.
