Nintendo has revealed that 20 retro Super Nintendo (SNES) titles are the heading to its digital Nintendo Switch Online library, including Super Mario World, Super Metroid, the original Super Mario Kart, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
The new games – which were announced at last night’s Nintendo Direct presentation – will include the same rewind and suspend functionality as NES games already available to play in the library, as well as multiplayer modes where applicable. As long as you remain a member on the Nintendo Switch Online subscription service, you’ll have access to the full line-up of games at any given time.

To really add to the nostalgia, Nintendo has also revealed a new Switch-compatible SNES-controller, too. On sale now for £27/$30, the controller comes with a USB cable and is available via the Nintendo store, with a limit of four controllers per Nintendo Account. However, only Nintendo Online subscribers are eligible to purchase the new peripheral.
Officially called “Nintendo Entertainment System – Nintendo Switch Online”, the Nintendo Switch Online subscription gives members access to a selection of NES and now SNES games, all of which are playable offline.The sub service also brings cloud saves to the platform and gives members the opportunity to participate in co-op and competitive online games for titles such as Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Arms, Mario Tennis Aces, and Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido.
