Nintendo Creators Program wants to recruit YouTubers with new ad sharing offer

Wii U and 3DS platform holder Nintendo is taking another step toward repairing relations with video creators by launching a new ad revenue sharing video model.

The Nintendo Creators Program offers users a 60 per cent share on ad revenue form any videos using footage from a Nintendo title. Those willing to establish a Nintendo-dedicated channel will see their share upped to 70 per cent.

It will officially debut on May 27th but is available in beta form now. Those wishing to take part must have a Google and PayPal account.

Nintendo has told Polygon that this new scheme will run conjunction with its content ID claiming strategy. That gives creators the option of keeping videos containing Nintendo content live if they agreed to hosting Nintendo ads on them – the catch being that subsequent revenue was split between only Nintendo and YouTube, with nothing going to the video creator.
