Nintendo scraps NES Remix contest

A proposed online contest for players of recent digital Wii U titles NES Remix has been scrapped.

Joystiq reports that an exploit in the game was discovered that was allow mean-spirited players to post unbeatable times in some of the games.

"In the interest of being as fair as possible, we decided to terminate the event without recognizing the fastest time," NES Remix director Koichi Hayashida said.

"We sincerely apologise for this matter, particularly because the vast majority of people played fairly."

NES Remix was released last month and offers bite-sized score challenges based on a host of retro Nintendo IP.
