Not a Hero launching on PS4 in February, Vita version cancelled

Roll7’s indie shooter Not a Hero has finally been given a firm release date on PlayStation 4.

The developer has announced via the PlayStation Blog that the title will be coming out on February 2nd and will set consumers back 9.99.

"It’s been a challenge and we’ve had a number of false starts and epic fails, but I’m pleased to announce that, with the help of some excellent people and the support of Devolver Digital, Not A Hero passed Sony QA first time, and will be coming to PS4 on February 2nd2016," creative directorJohn Ribbinssaid.

The previously-announced PlayStation Vita version, however, has been ditched. According to apost on Roll7’s own blog, the team worked hard to get Not a Hero working on Sony’s handheld but the developer was not successful.

Or as the game’s fictional character BunnyLord said: In the end, we tried simply copying the whole game onto a 3.5" floppy disk and jamming it into the back of the Vita, but this caused dangerous overheating and one of our test kits exploded, killing the entire Not a Hero Vita Programming team in a fully upsetting and totally avoidable fireball of nasty burning. Initially, we thought it was baddies what had done it, but it turned out to just be our team’s own fantastic ineptitude. It was at this juncture our lawyers advised us to abandon the port and come up with an elaborate excuse for its cancellation.”

The PC version of Not A Hero launched in May last year.

You may recognise the name Roll7 from the studio’s OlliOlli series of 2D skating games. The second entry in that series was played by over one million people worldwide during its launch month of Marchthanks to its participation in Sony’s PlayStation Plus scheme.
