Now Dungeon Keeper is embroiled in a Google Play store rating row

Recent smartphone re-release Dungeon keeper has already faced criticism over its IAPs and now the game is being slated for trying to play the ratings system.

As spotted by Gamasutra, users of the Android version are prompted to leave a rating for the game on the Google Play store. The pop-up offers two options – 5 Stars and 1-4 Stars.

Pressing on the 5 Star button takes you to the storefront to leave feedback. Pressing on the 1-4 Star button, however, offers up a feedback form through which gamers can contact the developer.

It’s entirely possible to hit the 5 Star link but leave a lower rating, of course, but it’s hard to argue that a level of deceit has not been employed.

We’re always looking at new ways to gather player feedback so that we can continue to improve our games,” an EA Mobile rep told Eurogamer. The ‘rate this app’ feature in the Google Play version of Dungeon Keeper was designed to help us collect valuable feedback from players who don’t feel the game is worth a top rating.

We wanted to make it easier for more players to send us feedback directly from the game if they weren’t having the best experience. Players can always continue to leave any rating they want on the Google Play Store.”
