Nyko Zooms in on Kinect

The most talked about third-party Kinect accessory is zooming into the UK.

The Nyko Zoom lens – which lets users play Xbox 360 Kinect with 40 per cent less playing space – will arrive in October for 29.99.

Interactive Ideas is one distributor which is supplying the product in the UK, after it generated mass exposure at E3 this year.

We have high expectations for Zoom over the peak season and beyond, due to the excitement at E3 along with the massive opportunity in the UK,” said Interactive Ideas marketing manager Andrew Miles.

"The average room size is much smaller here than in the US, especially in flats and university accommodation."

The Zoom works by clipping onto the Kinect sensor without the need for installation, an AC adaptor or batteries. It lets one or two gamers play in a much smaller space than was previously possible.

Miles added: Nyko should be applauded for assisting Microsoft in opening up the market for Kinect in the UK.Demand is already huge prior to release and will only grow rapidly once stock lands and consumers get to try the device for themselves.”

A Microsoft statement added: Kinect has been tested for performance, accuracy and environmental conditions thoroughly. Any modification can impact the performance of Kinect.”
