Oculus is staffing up with more than 100 open positions

VR firm Oculus is staffing up, with more than 100 positions currently open across many of its global offices.

According to Upload VR the company is mainly staffing up its research divisions, following the announcement back at Oculus Connect that the firm has $250,000 research grants available for upcoming areas in the VR space.

Positions in both hardware and software are available, with Oculus HQ in Menlo Park and its Seattle office being the main locations. There are also positions available across the world in areas such as Shanghai, London and Zurich.

Specifically, we are hiring a range of talent across Engineering, Design, Operations, and Content,” said Oculus spokesperson Brandon Boone when talking to Upload. A majority of our needs are in engineering in the following areas: Hardware (Optical, Electrical, and Mechanical), Computer Vision, Platform and Applications Software. These positions will scale our Product teams (Menlo Park and Seattle), Research Labs (Redmond, WA) and recently expanded international operations locations in APAC (Shanghai) and EMEA (Cork, London, and Zurich).”

It’s no surprise that Oculus is staffing up. Not only do they have the financial backing of Facebook to fund all the hires, but they have also had a very successful year, launching the Rift and bringing VR to consumers for the first time. However for a company the size of Oculus to be hiring so many people is quite surprising, and it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
