Granick will take up new position of scientist-in-residence

OpenFL founder Joshua Granick joins FlowPlay

FlowPlay has made a significant hire by bringing in Joshua Granick, founder and managing director of open-source framework OpenFL.

He takes on the role of scientist-in-residence, a “platform development and evangelist” position that will see him helping to grow FlowPlay’s gaming platform. However, he will continue to operate as MD for OpenFL.

Granick has more than 20 years experience in tech and development having worked at Intel, HP/Palm, Blackberry and various games studios.

His new role follows FlowPlay’s recent decision to transition all its mobile products to OpenFL, with plans to do the same for its entire games portfolio and future projects.

“Thousands of games, technologies and industries are already using OpenFL, and it’s a perfect fit to enable FlowPlay’s future development plans,” Granick said.

“By transitioning to OpenFL, FlowPlay has increased the versatilaity of the company’s multiplayer platform while accelerating development times and freeing up more resources to focus on new innovation. I’m eager to become a part of that process and help raise awareness on how OpenFL can help other developers in the casual games industry.”
