New app to recommend games and deliver targeted ads

Papaya and Tapjoy building Android social network

A new social games network co-built by PapayaMobile and Tapjoy is set to be offered to Android developers in December.

The joint venture combines the services both firms offer to mobile games developers. PapayaMobile’s social gaming network has over 35 million users, while Tapjoy has a robust in-game ad network.

The amalgamated Social Marketplace app for Android will present players with a list of games based on their popularity within the Papaya social network. It will also display more relevant adverts, based on data pooled by the application itself, which in theory will drive up ad space charges.

Access to the application will be available to developers by the end of the year.

Android developers using the tech will need to integrate both the Papaya Social SDK and Tapjoy’s Publisher SDK into their apps.

“Our entire business is built around delivering as much value to consumers as possible, and clearly there’s considerable value in helping them discover new games based on what their friends are playing,” said Tapjoy CEO Mihir Shah.
