Big Block hire ESL veteran Ed Tomasi

ESL veteran Ed Tomasi has been hired by Big Block to head up their esports division.

Big Block are a creative services company that also acts as a technology investor and IP accelerator. Big Block view esports as one of their core verticals, and CEO Seven Volpone believes Tomasi is a key hire for the company.

“Ed Tomasi essentially wrote the book on eSports marketing as we know it today,” said Volpone in a statement.

“He’s a highly respected talent and innovator within this ecosystem. With his leadership guiding our team and clients, Big Block can shepherd people and brands to the forefront of the eSports phenomenon in gaming, digital platforms, traditional broadcast and VOD.”

Tomasi has more than 15 years of experience in esports, remarkable in the young industry. Tomasi was well known for ESS Agency, one of the first esports agencies in North America that was later absorbed into ESL parent company Turtle Entertainment.

Tomasi added: “There are so many considerations to balance when marketing to the gaming and esports audiences. Done right, these passionate, powerful communities respond very positively. The esports ecosystem is still very layered and fragmented. Marketers must know how to navigate and communicate with each segment individually, authentically. Esports is still in its infancy, with new opportunities arriving every day. That makes knowing when and where to pivot essential.”
