Rise Nation is the latest org to drop its Overwatch team

With the Overwatch League looming teams have been dropping Overwatch teams all over the place. Now Rise Nation has become the latest org to drop it’s quad, creating quite the free agent talent pool.

The team was never quite able to break into the top tier of North American teams, and never managed to win a major event. However they were consistent top eight finishers in online competitions and showed some promise. The team will supposedly stick together for the time being and search for a new home.

“As it stands today, we do not have any plans on creating a new roster and thus will be taking a leave of absence from the Overwatch scene,” read a statement from Rise Nation announcing the release of the roster. “We would like to thank Activision, Blizzard, and the entire Overwatch community for their support and hospitality throughout our tenure. Although we are leaving, for now, we would welcome the opportunity to return to the scene at a future time.”

Rise Nation now joins the likes of Splyce, Fnatic, Dignitas and TSM, who have all dropped Overwatch rosters in recent weeks.
