EA exec steps in to say sorry to Nintendo after rogue tweets poke fun its ‘unpowered’ home console
EA COO Peter Moore has apologised for April Fools tweets scoffing at the Wii U and its hardware capabilities.
Yesterday, the official Twitter account for EA’s Frostbite Engine, developed in Sweden, mocked that it had added support for Wii U “since it is the most powerful Gen4 platform”.
“Our apologies to partners @NintendoAmerica & fan @FrostbiteEngine ’s poor attempt at April Fools not condoned by EA : unacceptable/ stupid,” Moore tweeted today in response to the rogue tweets.
All of the messages have since been removed.
However, our sister site, MCV recorded several of the tweets sent out by the unknown prankster, which included: “Frostbite will power #HalfLife3, coming out summer 2014! #WiiU exclusive” and “good news, we have finally fixed and optimized our ‘netcode’. Uses quantum entanglement for Zero Latency connections. Exclusively on #WiiU”.
The Frostbite Engine is developed at EA DICE, and has been used in titles such as Battlefield 4, Need for Speed: Rivals and Dragon Age: Inquisition.
