Reports suggest Xbox executive could be departing from the platform holder after three years

Phil Harrison leaving Microsoft

Industry veteran Phil Harrison could be leaving the Microsoft team, although the platform holder currently maintains this is rumour and speculation.

Sources at GDC reportedly told GamesIndustry about Harrison’s departure, but Xbox boss Phil Spencer and ID@Xbox exec Chris Charla have been unable to comment when approached.

Harrison joined Microsoft back in 2012 as VP of the firm’s Interactive Entertainment Business and head of games for the EMEA territories.

Reports suggest Harrison grew frustrated following the departure of Don Mattrick, who hired Harrison, and missing out on promotions when Spencer took over the Xbox division.

The news follows reports that Microsoft’s Lift London studio – which was set up by Harrison – is being merged with Soho Productions. Microsoft has since confirmed this merger.
