Platinum drops Vanquish PC hint

Those who were hoping the recent release of Bayonetta on PC might be the start of a trend could be in for some good news.

The Platinum Games action title made a surprise release on Steam earlier this month. Now an update to Bayonetta has dropped a Vanquish avatar into the game’s ‘extras’ folder.

Vanquish was originally released on Xbox 360 and PS3 back in 2010. It fared well with critics and had as of 2011 sold over 800k units.

Could this latest development be nothing more than a tease? Perhaps, although Platinum has already indicated that success for Bayonetta on PC could lead to more titles being ported.

"The PC market is huge and can definitely not be ignored,” the company told PC Gamer two weeks ago. "We’ve always had a positive stance towards porting our titles to PC. If it were up to us, we’d port all of our games to PC, but it all depends on the publishers. We still feel strongly about putting more consideration into the PC market. If our current efforts prove successful, this will only make PC development more attractive.

"However, most third party publishers nowadays realize the PC should not be ignored, so I believe we should be able to become more actively involved in the PC market from here on out."

And a success the game has been, racking up an estimated 100k+ PC sales in its first week.

In more Platinum news, it looks as if Platinum just might be teasing the possibility of Bayonetta 3.

The developer yesterday uploaded five short Bayonetta clips to YouTube, each of which loops three times. Some believe that it’s a bit of a stretch to jump to any conclusions, but considering Platinum’s recent form, it doesn’t seem too farfetched.
