PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds could yet come to PS4

One of the developers of breakout hit PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has seemingly left the door open for other console versions of the game.

An Xbox port was confirmed at E3 and was described as a console exclusive. Speaking to VG247, however, executive producer Chang Han Kim said: We definitely do have plans and thoughts about other platforms.

At the same time, we’re still an early access game. Our mentality and direction has always been to receive as much feedback as possible from our community and iterate based off that. We want to take the same approach with our console user base as well.

We want to take their feedback and make the game evolve based on that feedback. Xbox has a game preview program which they’ve been running very successfully for about two years – and so that’s why we wanted to try a similar approach to PC but on Xbox.”

Kim also said that the possibility of crossplatform multiplayer between PC and Xbox One is being investigated.

Cross network play between the PC and the console is definitely something we want to do down the road, and we don’t anticipate we’ll have any technical issues with that,” he added.

But when you consider the competitive side of the game, I do feel that there’s a balance issue between controllers and keyboard and mouse. That’s what’s making it difficult for us to do right away. If we’re going to allow players to use controllers we need to have the aim assist added in and things like that. We’re not going to be supporting it right away, but it’s something we’d like to look into later.”

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds saw its latest monthly update rolled out this morning. The 4.9GB Steam download adds a number of tweaks to the game including the first proper loot balance tweak.

The UMP will now spawn less and the Uzi a bit more. The VSS will no longer be a care drop item, while the chance of getting silencers in care drops will increase. The spawn rates of level 1 vests and helmets has also been evened out, with the helmet previously more likely to crop up than the vest.

Two new weather types have been introduced – sunset and clear skies – while destructible cabins have been introduced. There are also two new items – the Groza AR (found only in care packages) and the auto fire P18C pistol.

Developer Bluehole has also revealed that it has banned over 25,000 cheaters so far and is working on new detection and protection systems.
