PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is getting an official Zombie mode

The ambitious plans for PC hit PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds continue to ramp up with confirmation of an all-new zombie mode.

Last month a bunch of streamers hit the headlines by customising the game to offer a makeshift zombie mode. Now developer Bluehole has confirmed that the idea has been officially adopted.

The zombies will be player controlled, and we don’t know exactly how it will play out for those assigned to Team Undead.

There’s no estimate yet on when the feature will arrive, although we do know some details about the game’s June monthly update.

The biggest change will be the addition of vaulting. While PUBG is surprisingly polished for an Early Access title, jumping remains a bit of a pain, often leaving players struggling to clear knee high objects. The new update will introduce a range of vaulting animations. Players will not only be able to leap over both knee high and head high walls, but will also get the ability to scale larger walls, somersault out of windows and even theatrically over car bonnets.

Also on the way are some new weather features, with both overcast and evening lighting states, as well as the long-awaited fog mode.

It was confirmed at Microsoft’s E3 press event that, ss had been previously hinted, there will also be an Xbox release for the game, which is currently rocking some 3m+ owners on Steam early access. It will boast enhancements for Xbox One X owners, too.

The survival shooter will be an Xbox One console exclusive, although the initial later this year” release date has since been shunted back to 2018 by developer Bluehole.
