Publisher gets two co-founders and game content personalisation tech in deal

PlayFirst picks up Big Head Mode properties

PlayFirst has acquired the intellectual property and game portfolio of Big Head Mode, the publisher has announced.

The deal, called “a strategic acquisition” by a PlayFirst representative, focuses on Big Head’s mobile technology that takes pictures and data from social networks and creates relevant game content, like zombies with your Facebook friend’s faces.

The Bay Area developer is known for iOS apps such as PuppetFace and Douche Defender, but PlayFirst is also getting some talent out of the deal in BHM’s co-founders Tipatat Chennavasin and Richard Au.

Chennavasin will become director of product management while Au will serve as the Diner Dash publisher’s senior director of engineering.

“Tipatat and Richard, with their other co-founders at Big Head Mode, have created outstanding technology that helps meld together social graph attributes with mobile apps,” said PlayFirst president and CEO Marco DeMiroz.

“As we move forward together, we will work on integrating these approaches across the mobile game portfolio at PlayFirst. Additionally, both Tipatat and Richard bring leadership and skills to PlayFirst that will help us continue to build leadership and momentum in mobile gaming.”
