UK developer Playground Games is "closely collaborating" with Forza creator Turn 10 for its next title, Forza Horizon 2.
The game was revealed by IGN and is due for released on Xbox One and Xbox 360 by the end of the year. According to the site, a technology pipeline is shared between the two studios, as well as "select key personnel".
Playground Games previously developed the original Forza Horizon (pictured), which revamped Microsoft’s flagship racing series as an open world game. Horizon 2 will continue this format, with a new setting based around a music festival in Southern Europe.
The UK developer is also introducing a weather system to the series, and expanding on the Drivatar AI technology that debuted in last year’s Xbox One launch title Forza Motorsport 5.
More will no doubt be revealed about Forza Horizon 2 at Microsoft’s E3 press conference next week.
You can read more about the Drivatar system and other next-gen approaches to artificial intelligence in this month’s Develop magazine, as well as an in-depth look at the racing genre and how developers can keep it fresh.
