Playstack appoints new COO and board director

London-based studio PlayStack has appointed Mads Jensen as COO and board director, the company has announced, effective immediately.

In his new role, Jensen will work alongside CEO and founder Harvey Elliott to guide the company towards bringing even more creative games to market over the next year, driving the studio’s technological roadmap to include sophisticated AI, cloud and mobile technologies. He will also oversee the development pipeline and bring his years of operating experience as the company continues to grow.

Jensen brings with him years of business and entrepreneurial experience. In 2009, he founded Sefaira, a software platform for high-performance building design, and spent the next seven years building the company into a global market leader. It was the first platform to provide architects and engineers with real-time analysis on how to optimise buildings’ energy consumption, and was acquired by Trimble Navigation in 2016.

Jensen commented: I am joiningforces with the PlayStack team because I believe this business has all the ingredients to be a game changer for the industry. A team with an outstanding CEO, incredible talent, superb track record and a far-reaching vision in an exciting and rapidly growing market – PlayStack has the potential to the next London unicorn. This is a very exciting opportunity, and I am delighted to be joining the PlayStack leadership team to help realise the full potential of the business.”

Elliott added: We are on an ambitious mission to help every gamer in the world play a PlayStack game, and I am thrilled to be partnering with Mads so that together we enable the company to achieve that goal. Mads’ expertise and track record as a visionary technology leader and successful entrepreneur combined with his passion for games will be hugely valuable to the company."

"Given the large amount of incredibly talented games developers looking for investment and publishing support, we need to scale up our business to meet the opportunities in the market. Mads joining will only strengthen our capacity and resolve to go bigger and further, faster”.
