45% of android gaming for last quarter was taken up by Pokémon Go

Pokémon Go is fastest mobile game to make $600 million

Pokémon Go is the fastest mobile game to make $600 million in revenues, according to research conducted by App Annie.

Even if the growth is now slowing down, Pokémon Go, the mobile game that uses AR to let you catch Pokémon in your local Halfords car park, has caught a lot of flak recently for the amount of players it’s losing, but according to App Annie, Niantic Labs generated more than $600 million in revenue from July to the end of September.

This is the fastest that any mobile game has ever reached that amount. While it took Pokémon Go 90 days to hit that amount, it took popular mobile apps Candy Crush Saga and Clash of Clans 200 and 500 days respectively to hit that target.

In other good news from App Annie’s findings, Pokémon Go accounted for 45 per cent of the time spent in Android games in the third quarter, and this wasn’t time stolen from other games and apps, but was convincing players to spend more time on the game than they usually did playing mobile games.

We’ve previously discussed how Pokémon Go retains players as well as Clash of Clans.
