PS Vita price drop: Now 199; memory cards to get cheaper

Sony has finally dropped the price of the PlayStation Vita.

The handheld will now be priced at €199 in Europe, the same as the PS3 12 GB model.

The Vita currently retails in India at Rs 19,990 and a direct Euro-to-Rupee conversion would mean that the Vita would now drop to roughly Rs 16,990, which is also the Indian price for the PS3 12 GB model.

Sony also announced that memory cards for the PS Vita will get significant price reductions, which is great news for existing and new Vita owners. The exact amounnt of reduction was not revealed.

In the past, Sony has been quick to drop console prices in India after an official price drop has been announced in Europe. We expect the same to happen with the Vita.

We’ve contacted Sony India regarding the PS Vita price and we’ll update the story once we know more.
