PS3 passes 22m European sales

Total lifetime sales of Sony’s PS3 have now passed the 22m unit mark in European territories.

PS2 across our territory went well over 50m units. We’re at 22m on PS3. So there’s lots of life in that still to come,” new SCEE boss Jim Ryan told MCV.

SCE UK wasted no time in promoting the new PS3 price this week. An outdoor campaign began on Monday (August 22nd) with over 5,000 UK roadside sites featuring six-sheet posters. A UK press campaign started last Friday, with the right ad featuring in Metro.

The new price for PS3 will make the console accessible to a broad range of new consumers,” UK marketing director Alan Duncan added.

It was essential that we supported it with a heavyweight campaign. The announcement also kicks off a busy period with major campaigns for Resistance 3, DanceStar Party, PS Move, the new PSP and Uncharted 3.”
