PC hardware and peripheral firm could purchase firm but talks are "still in flux"

Razer allegedly in talks to buy Ouya

Reports have emerged that peripherals firm Razer could be in discussiosn to acquire Ouya, the troubled microconsole firm.

Despite the success of its initial Kickstarter campaign, the past few years have been tough for Ouya, culminating in the company’s decision to put itself up for sale just a couple of months ago.

Now TechCruch is reporting that Razer is a potential buyer. The site adds it “couldn’t learn the tearms of the deal”, which are believed to be “still in flux”.

Ouya’s Kickstarter campaign stands as the fifth largest campaign the crowdfunding site has ever seen, raising just under $8.6m. The company has since secured almost three times that amount from VC investors.

Sadly, the microconsole has struggled to gain any momentum or backing in the market. Its best-selling title Towerfall has sold just 7,000 units.
