New pan-Asian focus helps bring visitors despite Japan industry woes

Record attendance for Tokyo Game Show

The Tokyo Game show attracted record numbers of visitors for the second year in a row, registering over 220,000 attendees.

Concerns about the health of the Japanese industry are among the most talked about issues in gaming, but this seems to have done little to dampen enthusiasm for the event.

This is in part due to the new pan-Asian focus of the event, which seeks to become the key source of information about gaming on the continent.

With this in mind, the organisers opened the "Asia New Stars " area, which put eight corporations from Vietnam, Iran, Indonesia, and Malaysia on display.

In total, over 209 corporations from over 19 countries and regions exhibited at the event.
