Alan Wake, Max Payne and Quantum Break developer Remedy Entertainment has named its new CEO.
Tero Virtala previously headed up Trials creator RedLynx as CEO for 12 years, before departing in 2014 to move into consulting. Before that, he spent four years at market tracker PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
Virtala replaces co-founder and board chairman Markus Mäki, who had been serving as interim CEO. Mäki will return to his role leading studio productions.
“Tero has been consulting Remedy since spring, helping us refine our vision for the future, so he knows the studio quite well already,” said Mäki. “It’s a pleasure to get someone with his experience to join the team.”
Virtala himself added: “Shifting gears into a new production model like this needs to be managed well.
“In such a talent-filled company like Remedy, one important part of this evolution is to continue empowering our people and project teams more and more. I am excited and honoured to be part of Remedy.”
Remedy recently announced that it would split into a two-project studio for the first time, and is currently collaborating with Korean developer Smilegate on the campaign for shooter CrossFire 2.
