Despite news this morning that a deal to take GAME out of administration is now very close, a new report suggests OpCapita has not yet given up hope.
The Independent reports that OpCapita has tabled a fresh bid to acquire GAME’s remaining 333 UK stores.
In addition, it also believes that GameStop has at last put forward a bid to acquire GAME’s Iberian operations as well as its Czech republic arm.
MCV readers will remember that OpCapita was the first company to make a firm move for GAME, although its offer was shunned by lenders such as RBS. OpCapita then admitted to MCV last week that hopes for a deal were more or less over.
However, since then GAME has entered administration and is now a very different beat to how it once was following the closure of 277 stores and the sacking of 2,104 staff.
