Zynga will be having words with less friends this week as reports surface that vice presidents Bill Mooney and Brian Birtwistle have quit.
The social gaming giant faces what seems like a mass exodus of top-level talent after the previous departures of Mike Verdu and Alan Patmore.
Bloomberg reports a confidential source contacted them with news of the loss of Birtwistle and Mooney, who he claims resigned this week.
Mooney, a vice president of studios, had been general manager for Farmville. Birtwistle was a VP of marketing.
This follows months of poor performance on the stock exchange and an upsetting quarterly report that some say has morale at the metrics-driven developer at an all-time low.
Even so Zynga spokeswoman Dani Dudeck says the company has an unusually high retention rate for employees.
"Zynga’s voluntary attrition rate was around one percent for the first four years, and our current attrition levels are not only below what we expected and modeled in our post-IPO planning, they continue to stay well below the industry average,” said Dudeck.
But these are averages, and with four top level executives leaving the company in a matter of weeks, the pressure is surely mounting on CEO Mark Pincus to keep his executives on board.
