Resident Evil Revelations out January 27th

Capcom’s 3DS survival horror shooter Resident Evil Revelations will hit UK shelves in January next year.

Like this year’s Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, Nintendo will handle sales, marketing and distribution duties for Revelations throughout Europe and Australia. Capcom will remain publisher.

Revelations is the second Resident Evil game on 3DS following The Mercenaries 3D. Instead of the latter’s time attack-style survival gameplay, Revelations features more traditional Resident Evil gameplay and an all-new story.

The game is set in 2005 between the events of Resident Evil 4 and 5. Players control a variety of familiar characters including Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield from the 1996 PSone original.

Players can use the 3DS’ touch screen to quickly change weapons and select items, as well as switch from first-person to third-person viewpoints. Revelations is also compatible with the upcoming slider pad accessory for 3DS which includes a second circle pad and two more shoulder buttons.

The Resident Evil series has sold over 46m units worldwide to date.
