THE LIFE of a gangster is an enviable one. A lavish existence brimming with glorious wealth, sharp suits, big families, horse’s heads and little friends.
In Omerta – City of Gangsters, players live the life of a 1920s criminal in prohibition-hit Atlantic City.
The game is a turn-based strategy title from the talented Tropico developers Haemimont.
“Haemimont is a very talented team and Tropico 3 and 4 have both been great selling titles for Kalypso so we have a great developer heritage there. The strategy genre is still incredibly popular and continues to grow on console,” says Mark Allen, head of PR and marketing at Kalypso.
A player’s life of crime starts off small, before putting a gang together to steal territory from rivals, indulging in shoot-outs and robberies.
Kalypso Media hopes that Omerta will benefit from gangsters being the flavour of the month.
“Gangster themed entertainment is very hot at the moment with the success of Boardwalk Empire and the recent release of Gangster Squad. People love the idea of being a gangster and Omerta gives them the chance to do just that,” adds Allen.
