Studio behind Iron Maiden mobile RPG believed to have closed, devs already re-hired elsewhere

Roadhouse Interactive shut down, around 100 jobs lost

Reports suggest that Roadhouse Interactive has been shut down.

The Vancouver-based studio was known for the mobile RPG Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast, as well as the Red Bull Air Race series. Pocket Gamer reports that the studio has been closed, with all of its staff laid off.

Between July and September, multiple members of the team updated their LinkedIn profiles to say they are no longer working at Roadhouse, while several other studios spread messages of condolences about the developer’s closure via social media.

A Thinking Ape, a tech company based near Roadhouse’s studio, even held a hiring party last week, at which several firms attended to “help people displaced by the Roadhouse Interactive collapse”. The studio was home to around 100 staff.

While there has been no official word on the closure, the official Roadhouse social media accounts have been dormant over the last month. Previous reports have suggested heavy layoffs were made last month, although this was denied at the time.

UPDATE: Nodding Frog has clarified that, while Roadhouse was the developer of Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast, the game was published and is owned by Nodding Frog. Ongoing development of the title was moved in-house as of last week and has not been affected by Roadhouse’s closure.
