Gary Foreman and Jamie King launch 4mm Games; ex-Image Metrics exec becomes CEO

Rockstar founders form new studio

Rockstar’s founding duo Gary Foreman and Jamie King have established a new independent studio, 4mm Games.

The New York City-based studio will initially work on non-physical software for the iPhone and various online channels, before eventually working on projects for Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft systems.

When at Rockstar, both Foreman and King were involved in the production of heavyweight games such as Grand Theft Auto, Max Payne and Bully.

According to a Variety report, the duo’s new studio is working on two undisclosed titles, one of which will be released within a year.

Joining the team will be ex-Image Metric Exec Nicholas Perrett and former NBC and Warner Music exec Paul Coyne.

Perrett, who joins the group as its new CEO, spoke of the company’s push for emerging new game platforms. "It is an utterly unprecedented time in the history of videogames,” he said, “as the Web and new business models disrupt the existing value chain.”

Paul Coyne, once a senior adviser to the likes of Def Jam Enterprises and Warner Music, joins the group as executive vice President.
