Rockstar reveals Red Dead Redemption

Rockstar Games has finally answered the long-running rumours of a sequel to Red Dead Revolver by confirming that the title is indeed in the works and is due for release this autumn.

Red Dead Redemption is being developed for Xbox 360 and PS3 by Rockstar San Diego, the studio behind the original 2004 Wild West title as well as street-savvy racer Midnight Club and off the wall sports title Rockstar Presents Table Tennis.

The game will run on Rockstar’s proprietary Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE), which also powered Grand Theft Auto IV, and will be based in an open-world environment packed with towns, prairies” and wildlife.

"The team at San Diego have massively exceeded our expectations with the sheer depth of experiences in Red Dead Redemption," Rockstar Games founder Sam Houser stated.

"The seamless combination of breathtaking beauty and intense action, all woven together with strong plotlines in a massive vibrant, rural environment is mind-blowing. We think this game helps to push the limits of what an open-world gaming experience can be."
