First title coming in March 2017

Rooster Teeth announces game publishing division

Rooster Teeth, the machinima site behind popular online series Red vs. Blue is launching its own video game publishing division, Rooster Teeth Games. The studio is based in Austin, Texas and their first externally published game will be Battlesloths 2025: The Great Pizza Wars.

The division will be focussed on working with independent game developers to bring their games to the biggest possible audience using their already-huge community. The company get more than 5 million unique monthly visitors to RoosterTeeth.com and over 30 million YouTube subscribers, which they’ll be looking to leverage that audience to market games it’s publishing.

The real test of this will be in March 2016, when Battlesloths 2025 is set to release on Steam. Developers Invisible Collective have created a fast-paced, local multiplayer, competitive twin-stick shooter. Players will train to become an ultimate sloth.

“Rooster Teeth services the community of people who grew up on game consoles instead of cable boxes,” said Michael Hadwin, director of Rooster Teeth Games, in an emailed statement. “With Rooster Teeth Games, we will bring a wide array of engaging and entertaining video games on all platforms to this community and in turn introduce the indie developer to this thriving demographic.”

Previously Rooster Teeth Games developed and published RWBY Grimm Eclipse based on Rooster Teeth’s anime series RWBY. The game was a best-seller on Steam but then appeared on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and is a top-10 selling game on both platforms.

No doubt Rooster Teeth Games will be hoping to replicate that success for other titles it’s promoting.
