Rumour: CCP’s owners consider selling the Icelandic games outfit

Icelandic games outfit CCP hf is currently exploring its options regarding the sale of the company after receiving interest from a number of interested parties.

Bloomberg broke the news, citing as its source "people with knowledge of the matter". The company’s owners, which include investment firms Novator Partners LLP, U.S investment fund General Catalyst Partners LLC and New Enterprise Associates Inc among other companies, are discussing whether or not they would like to proceed iwth the sale, with the same anonymous source suggesting the sale could be valued at $955 million.

What this sale could mean for CCP’s myriad of titles remains to be seen. CCP was founded in 1997 and are best known for their spacefaring MMO EVE Online and other games in the same universe, including EVE Valkyrie and EVE Gunjack.
