Sega says Aliens lawsuit is "without merit"; Gearbox ups ante saying it’s "beyond meritless"

Both publisher Sega and developer Gearbox have rubbished a lawsuit filed against the pair regarding Aliens: Colonial Marines.

On Wednesday MCV reported that a Californian lawsuit is taking both companies to task over the disparity between pre-release demos and marketing materials and the final release of Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Sega cannot comment on specifics of ongoing litigation,” a rep told Kotaku. But we are confident that the lawsuit is without merit and we will defend it vigorously.”

You like dem apples? Then check this out. Gearbox is even more dismissive of the whole fiasco.

"Attempting to wring a class action lawsuit out of a demonstration is beyond meritless,” it stated. We continue to support the game, and will defend the rights of entertainers to share their works-in-progress without fear of frivolous litigation."

It’s a bit like that bit in Britain’s Got Talent where Amanda Holden says a hundred per cent yes” then David Walliams says a thousand per cent yes” and then Simon Cowell, after a short dramatic break says a million per cent yes”.
