Sega is taking legal action against what’s left of defunct publisher THQ, claiming it is owed more than 630,000 taken by pre-orders for Company of Heroes 2.
Specifically, the claim filed with the Delaware US Bankruptcy court concerns PC pre-orders through Steam. Sega is trying to claim the $941,710.93 (over 630,000) Steam owner Valve paid THQ for the strategy title’s pre-orders, according to Eurogamer.
The strategy game racked up 20,755 pre-orders on Steam between September 2012 and January 24th 2013, generating more than $1.3m. Valve takes 30 per cent of this, leading 70 per cent ($941,000) for Sega.
The publisher is asking for priority to be put on a $508,000 payment that Valve paid to THQ after the latter filed for bankruptcy on December 19th, 2012.
Sega purchased Company of Heroes 2 and its developer Relic Entertainment for $26.6m back in January.
