US mobile firm dips into $130m for new acquisitions

SGN acquires two indie studios

SGN has acquired two new development studios, adding to its growing empire of games teams.

Seattle-based indie Fat Rascal Games and Palo Alto’s Kiwi Inc are now part of the successful US mobile firm, joining fellow SGN studios in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco and Buenos Aires.

While the cost of these acquisitions has not been specifed, SGN notes that the purchases follow $130m in investment from Netmarble earlier this year.

"Fat Rascal and Kiwi are two of the best independent studios I’ve seen in the market today, collectively being involved in some of the biggest social/mobile games in the industry, said CEO and co-founder Chris DeWolfe in a statement

"It’s an exciting time for us as we continue to deploy fresh capital and acquire the brightest game talent to expand our development capabilities globally."
